Outside the Dial

Dirty Ryan

Hey everyone, my name is Dirty Ryan. I’m the host and creator of Dirty Ryan’s Anarchy Hour, which can be heard on Friday nights from 8-9 p.m. (CST) on Outside The Dial. Many people only know me a radio personality, so I thought I would tell you a bit about myself. I’ve lived in the Chicagoland all of my life, which music has always played a huge part of it.

For much of my life, I’ve wanted to be a radio personality which the inspiration came from the movie Pump Up The Volume. I never pursued that dream until 2011, when news about Chicago’s Alternative-Rock station Q101 was being bought out and switching to an all-news station.

In July 2011 I started broadcasting school at the Illinois Center for Broadcasting, Lombard IL. Campus, and graduated in July 2012. During my time there, I started interning at Outside The Dial in December 2011 writing band reviews. After a few months, station owner Pitch Shifter had asked me if I wanted to host my own show and I quickly said yes.

My 1st show aired on March 30, 2012 and I stayed with Outside The Dial after I graduated. I’m actually lucky to work here at Outside The Dial, because it allows me to have the freedom to do a show to my liking and to pretty much do what I want. I still occasionally write band reviews, and I sometimes represent Outside The Dial at different functions.

As for my show I play music from the Punk, Metal, Rock, and Indie genres. If you want to get more information about me or my radio show, go to my website at www.dirtyryan.wordpress.com.
