The Zoobombs

Wolfarelli March 1, 2011 2 Comments on The Zoobombs

As Hirsch combs Europe for the next big thing, my attention has been brought to the Land of the Rising Sun. The Zoobombs from Japan are taking their American style punk rock sound around the Home of the Brave for an American tour in 2011 and are making a stop in Chicago at the Empty Bottle March 2nd. The Zoobombs fronted by Don Matsuo have been around since 1994 and have opened for acts such as JSBX and the Flaming Lips. With a great funk head nodding style with songs like Hot Dance to the very garage sound of Highway a Go-Go, the Zoobombs create a no rules “Thunderdomesque” approach to punk without compromising it’s raw energy. They are a great balance between pure chaos and a formulated orchestra. Seiji would be proud!

    Yeah, I don’t get this… AT ALL!!!

It is interesting, I’ll give it that. Wolf, you have certainly gone out on a limb with this one. It’s like Beastie Boys crossed with Bell Biv Devoe or some bad 90s rap group. I swear I hear a cut from “Poison”. I bet they are fun live. You should check out Ogre You Asshole if want some Asian flavor… they are really good.

    Love, Hirsch
